London Squealers

Give these bacon, beef and beer burgers a bite. Vintage staffer Shari submits another winner.

London Squealers

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 slices bacon, partially cooked and cut into a small dice)
  • 1 cup Fuller’s London Porter (or similar type of beer)
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of red chili pepper flake
  • fresh ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 1 garlic clove, diced
  • Approximately 5 fresh mushrooms (depending on size), cut into chunks
  • 1 medium sized white onion, cut into chunks


  1. To start, take the mushrooms and onions and process them in a food processor or blender until they form a slightly chunky paste (you want to aim for about 1 cup of this mix).  If you don’t have a food processor, chop super fine with a knife.
  2. Combine all ingredients, including the mushroom/onion paste, and form into patties.  Let the patties sit, covered, in the fridge, for about an hour.  This will make grilling easier.
  3. BBQ until cooked through.  Top as you like. 


*I didn’t add salt to this recipe because of the sodium content in the bacon.  Feel free to add some, if you wish.
