Baileys Creme Brulee French Toast


Vintage Staffer Shari has done it once again with her new twist on a classic breakfast treat.


Bailey’s Crème Brulee French Toast




bread (we used 4 slices of whole wheat texas toast)

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/4 cup baileys

tiny pinch of salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp vanilla

white sugar

assorted fruit

whipped cream

you'll also need a kitchen torch for this one


How To

Put the milk, baileys, eggs, salt, cinnamon and vanilla in a bowl and mix these together really well. Take your bread and place it in a pan, cover it with the milk mixture, making sure that each and every part of the bread is soaking it up.

At some point during all this, cook your bacon. If you want, also make a small fruit salad (we had strawberries, black berries and pineapple).

When your milk mix is pretty much all absorbed, heat up a large frying pan and melt a tablespoon or so of butter in it. When heated, cook the french toast, until it’s nice and toasty on each side.

When the french toast is done, turn the heat off and put about 1 tablespoon of white sugar on top of each piece. Spread it around so it's in a thin layer. Then, fire up your kitchen torch and brulee each slice.

Once bruleed, put it on a plate, top with whipped cream and fruit.  Serve the bacon on the side.

For the record, I could only eat one piece of this sweet deliciousness. It was so rich...but tasty!
